WALWORTH: Alt, Werner W., 79, died on Tues., July 28, 2009 after a lengthy battle with a rare form of blood cancer. Werner was born in Basel, Switzerland on April 25, 1930 the son of Walter and Hedy Alt-Luethi. He and the former Elizabeth Anne Farley were married on April 4, 1959 in Almont, MI. Werner was a Senior Electrical Engineer and retired from Xerox in 1981. After retirement he and Betty owned and operated the Upper Crust Bakery and the Molly Stark Motel in Brattleboro, VT. Werner was known as a handyman and enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Alt is survived by his wife Betty; son Barry (Kandi); daughter Barbara Garraty(Stephen); granddaughter Jocelyn and her father John Ekis. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to George and Betsy Osborne, the congregation of Covenant Life Fellowship, John and Marlene Rush, Dr. Brian Smith and the Medical Oncology Department at Highland Hospital; along with the Walworth Volunteer Fire Department for the help and support they gave to Werner and Betty. A memorial service may be held at a later date.
