Virginia Parrott Obituary

Palmyra, NY: VIRGINIA ANNE PARROTT, age 79, died peacefully on May 18, 2022, at Laurel House Hospice Care in Newark, NY, after a battle with cancer. Virginia was the first of five children born to the late Archie T. Parrott and Margaret (Nye)Parrott of Palmyra, NY.  She is also pre-deceased by her sister, Barbara (Parrott) Bajcsi of Newport News, VA. She is survived by her brother William (Brynne)Parrott of Tampa, Fl; brother Robert Parrott of Palmyra, NY; sister Nancy (Thomas) Metcalfe of Macedon, NY; nieces Kimberly (Bajcsi) McCaffrey of Newport News, VA; Michelle (Bajcsi) McKeown of Carmel, Indiana; Jodi (Crocker) McGregor of Tullahoma, TN; Amy Parrott of NY; Melanie Parrott of Tampa, FL; nephew Brett Bajcsi of Richmond, VA and cousin Deborah (Ellwanger) Di Natale of East Rochester, NY; dear family friends Thomas and Margaret Farmer of Palmyra, NY. Virginia graduated as the Valedictorian of the Palmyra-Macedon Class of 1960.  Virginia loved nature and lived most of her life on the land purchased by her parents on Stafford Road in Palmyra.  After their death, the family home and farmland were purchased by her brothers, allowing her to continue to reside in the family home.  There was almost nothing Virginia enjoyed more than walking the paths surrounding the fields, or, in later years, riding in the four-wheeler while enjoying the new growth in the hedgerows, the flowering trees, wildflowers and streams.  Virginia was also a great animal lover (especially cats!) and an avid reader.  While she voraciously read many different genres for years, recently her favorite and her focus was on true stories about animals.  Her gentle nature was reflected in her deep love for family and friends. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.  Virginia will be laid to rest beside her beloved parents in the Marion Cemetery.  Burial will be attended by family members only. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Virginia’s name to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, NY 14489; Guiding Eyes for the Blind (seeing eye dogs) at Box 97007, Washington, D.C 20090 and to The Laurel House, 224 Fair Street, Newark, NY 14513.
