Steven Edward MacBride passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020 at the age of 58 at his home in Huntington Beach, California. Steven fought a courageous two-year battle with cancer and was lovingly cared for by his older brother David for the last five weeks of his life. Steven will be sadly missed by his loving family. He is survived by his mother, Ada Lasken (DeSanctis, MacBride), step father Lynn Lasken, brother David MacBride (Laurie), nieces Sara, Kristin (Titus) and Rachel MacBride, nephew Greg MacBride (Elizabeth), great niece and nephew Mikaela and Kayden, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Steven was predeceased by his father Roger G. MacBride, maternal grandparents Massimo & Francesca DeSanctis, and paternal grandparents Gae & Nellie MacBride. Steven was born February 7, 1962 in Rochester, NY. He graduated from St. Michael’s School in 1976 and Newark High School in 1980. Steven earned an Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) degree in Drafting & Design Technology from Alfred State College in 1983 before moving to California in 1986, where he enjoyed a lifelong career as a CAD Draftsman for multiple civil engineering firms. Steven had a natural ear for music. He got his first of many guitars when he was 8 years old and taught himself to play with mastery, eventually doing guitar repair and teaching lessons. He also had a passion for martial arts. He earned his Black Belt in Tang Soo Do and was a certified instructor in multiple self-defense disciplines. A memorial mass will be held at St. Michael’s Church, 401 S. Main St., Newark, NY 14513 in Newark on August 8, 2020 at 10:30 am followed by a graveside ceremony at East Newark Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather for a luncheon at the Newark Elks Club, 273 S. Main St., Newark, after the ceremony.
