Rose was born on December 8, 1931 the daughter of John and Nina Scouten Liddle. She was married to Robert A. Ranney on December 8, 1948 in Red Creek, New York. Rose had worked as a nurse at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital for 34 years.

Mrs. Ranney was predeceased by her husband Robert and a son Larry. She is survived by her sons Rick and Andrew (Terry) Ranney; sisters Dianne Pople and Jane Pearse and grandson Scott.
