PALMYRA: Shaner, Roger Lewis, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at age 77. Roger was born in Palmyra, N.Y. the son of the late Lester and Edith (Abraham) Shaner. Roger and the former Patricia M. Ward were married on July 5, 1980. He was a 4-H leader with the Ganargua 4-H Club for 18 years and was on the Wayne County 4-H Division Committee for several years. Roger had been a dairy farmer up until 1974. He was a member of the Palmyra Moose Lodge #1420 and had been a bus driver for Palmyra-Macedon Central School District for over 40 years as well as a monitor at the Palmyra-Macedon Middle School in the lunch room. Mr. Shaner is survived by his wife of 36 years Pat; two step-sons Leigh (Tammy) Hutter of Palmyra and Brett (Lynette) Hutter of Williamson; brother-in-law Dan Ward of Fl; sister-in-law Robbin Gifford of Hilton; relatives in PA and cousins, friends and his special pet dog “Theo.” Friends are invited to call from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Thursday, November 3 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra where a funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, Nov. 4. Burial will follow in Palmyra Cemetery.
