Palmyra: Robert Byrle Shaffer “Bob”: passed peacefully on May 5th 2020 at high noon with his family by his side at age 81. Bob was born in PA, but has lived in Palmyra, NY for the last 58 years. Bob owned his own roofing & siding business, Robert Shaffer and Sons. Bob was an old car enthusiast and most admired his orange VW THING that he cruised around in. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Janice Shaffer, daughter Maureen Freida, son Robert “Bobby” Shaffer Jr. (Kelley Ryan), daughter Joanne Hartman (Brian Scorsone), son Dennis Shaffer (Jackie), former wife Joan Shaffer, step-daughters Carie-An Brutsman and Sherrie-An Nacke (Larry), sisters Leona Caruso, Janet Reed and sisters-in-law Pam Shannon and Debbie Youngman. Bob is also survived by his in-laws Violet and Gerard Cantin and many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren that loved him dearly; along with many friends and extended family. Bob is preceded by his parents Minnie “Marie” Catalano and Floyd “Jim” Harman of PA, son-in-law Frank Freida, brother-in -law Danny Youngman and Uncle Larry “Jim” Marker.
