PALMYRA: Clancy, Joan A.; died on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the age of 90. Family and friends are invited to call from 10am to Noon on Saturday, August 24 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. Committal prayers will follow calling in the Marion Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Dr., Marion, NY 14505. A gathering for family and friends will immediately follow the committal service at the Palmyra VFW Post, 4312 Route 31, Palmyra, NY. Joan lived in this area all her life, growing up with her sister, Barbara, in Marion and raising her family in Palmyra.  In the late 60’s/early 70’s, along with her best friend, Annette Wirth Preston, she owned and operated a fabric store in Palmyra, as sewing was a huge part of her life, from a young teen until her later years.  She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, especially for the grand children at family parties and picnics. She also worked at Mobil Chemical Company, Films Division, for over 20 years in the Finance Department before retiring, where she loved to decorate her home and spend time with family and friends.

    Joan was predeceased by her parents Alvin and Elizabeth Arney Young; her husband John G. Clancy and her sister Barbara Ruple. She is survived by her daughter Terri Anderson; son Don (Tami) Gray; stepchildren John W. Clancy, Terry L. (Diane) Clancy and Tammy L. Cialini; grandchildren Tyler (Megan) and Bradley Gray; great-grandchildren Elliot Dumond, Bella Gray, Henry Gray and Riley Gray and several extended family members and friends, including special caregivers: Tina, Connie, Melissa and Heather!
