PALMYRA/MACEDON: Root, Jean W., 75, died on Thurs., April 30, 2009. Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Mon., May 4 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tues., May 5 at St. John's Lutheran Church (Pumpkin Hook), 153 Church Ave., Farmington, NY 14425. Jean was born on April 26, 1934 in Penfield, NY the daughter of John F. and Augusta Gerhard Wendt. She was married to Carl R. Root on Nov. 1, 1952 in Farmington, NY. Jean retired from the Palmyra-Macedon School District after 26 years as a school bus driver. She was a member of St. Johns Church and the Macedon Senior Citizens and was a devoted caregiver to many. Mrs. Root is survived by her husband of 56 years Carl Root; daughters Peggy (Ryan) Schell, Debbie (Keith) Howie and Kathy (Alan) Bushart; son David (Cindy) Root; sister Phyllis Martz; brother Leslie Wendt; grandchildren Jennifer, Joel, Ryan, Gretchen, Shalyn, Scott, David and Danny and great-grandchildren Jacob, Gianna, Mia, Zeph and Lucas. She was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Christianson and Laura Mae Hoad and brothers Russell and Robert Wendt.
