PALMYRA: Markham Sr., James P.: died on Friday, July 14, 2023 at his home in Palmyra at the age of 78. Jim was born on June 28, 1945 in Rochester, New York the son of Harold and Shirley Markham. After high school Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served proudly at Camp LeJeune, NC and in Korea. After his active duty service Jim served in the SeaBees as a reservist and provided help during flooding in both Mississippi and Long Island. His pride in being a Marine continued throughout his life and Jim lived his life as a man of principle and integrity. The funeral home proudly flies the United States Marine Corp flag in honor of Jim’s service to our country. Jim spent much of his career as a sheet metal planner and supervisor at Eastman Kodak in Rochester. In his spare time he could be found tinkering in his garage or basement. Jim was an accomplished handyman and woodworker and was the “go to guy” when someone in the family needed help with projects or repairs. He also had a love for fishing and an affinity for old classic movies. Jim’s sense of humor carried him through life and he used his humor to express his love to those he cared for most. Family was always Jim’s priority. Jim is survived by his wife Connie; sons Jim (Eva), Steven and Shay; his siblings; former wife Jackie Markham; good friend Steven Harris and many other friends. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, July 20 at Heritage Baptist Church, Route 21, Palmyra. A funeral service will follow at 7pm. Burial with military honors will be at 9am on Friday, July 21 in Palmyra Cemetery.
