Hazel M. Smith Schwartz
Born: February 15, 1935 | Passed: December 18, 2024

Early on the morning of December 18, 2024, Hazel M. Smith Schwartz reunited with her beloved husband, Charles William Schwartz, in eternal rest. Theirs was a love story for the ages—a partnership spanning over seven decades. Tomorrow would have marked their 71st wedding anniversary, and it is a comfort to know that Hazel and Charles are together once more.

Hazel was born on February 15, 1935, to Burton and Doris Smith. She was one of eleven siblings. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lois (Louis), Betty (William), Doris (Floyd), her brothers Earl, David and Ronald, and survived by her siblings Robert, Fred (Carol), Carolyn and Larry.

On December 19, 1953, Hazel married Charles at the Presbyterian Church, and together they built a life rich in love, laughter, and devotion. Hazel was the fiery heart of her family, known for her spirited personality and sharp wit. She was a force of nature, a woman who loved fiercely and kept everyone on their toes.

Hazel is survived by her loving children, Gary (Cheryl) Schwartz and Randy (Valerie) Schwartz, as well as her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren:
    •    Kelly Hilton [Owen, Troy, Addie, Quinn]
    •    Gordan (Stephany) Cummings [Oliver, Zey, Shi]
    •    Abbillyn (Adam) Johnson [Spencer, Parker, Elijah, Layla]
    •    Eric (Morgan) Schwartz [Maddox, Norah, Jude]
    •    Amanda (Chase) Brown [Henry]
    •    Thomas (Diana) Schwartz [Theo]
    •    Robin Schwartz

Hazel's life was defined by her devotion to family and the values she shared with Charles: hard work, faith, and love for the simple joys of life. Together, they built Schwartz Excavating and a legacy that will endure in the hearts of their family and community.
