PORT GIBSON: Smallidge, Elizabeth J., died on Saturday, February 7, 2015, surrounded by her family, at the age of 80. Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 12th, at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 West Main Street, Palmyra. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 13th, in the Newark Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to a celebratory lunch at the American Legion in Newark following the service.

Betty was born on April 13, 1934 in Newark, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Edith Brown Murray. She was a member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church and enjoyed collecting antiques, crafting ceramics, reading, traveling, and she was a huge NASCAR and Earnhardt(s) fan. Above all, Betty loved spending time with family and friends - especially her grandson, Max. "Aunt Izzie" never missed a chance to send a card or make a phone call to those she loved. Betty worked for many years for Mobil Chemical and Sarah Coventry.

Mrs. Smallidge is survived by her husband Vernon Smallidge; daughter Pamela (Daniel) Wagner; grandson Maxwell Wagner; brothers Eugene and Douglas Murray; nieces Betty (Dion) Marinaccio and Joan (Joe) Giuliano, nephew Peter (Barb) Simonse and many other beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Alice Hughes, Barb Garvey, Gert Smallidge, Nina VanWinkle, Edith Canne, Skip, Marian and Bob Murray.
