Palmyra: Taylor, Donald G.: 84, died on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from pancreatic cancer at home under the loving care of Home Hospice and his wife Joann “Jodi” Taylor.

     Don and Jodi were married 60 years ago in the St. George Utah temple and have seven children; David, Michael, Tracy Larimer, Scott , Donald, Jonathan, Shelly Cuevas (deceased); 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

    Don spent his career working in the computer industry having worked on one of the first computers invented at System Development Corporation in Santa Monica, California. The computer was the size of a small building which now fits in the palm pf your hand. It took 1/6th of the all the electricity from the city of Santa Monica to operate. This was before the internet and there were no college classes on computers at the time. Don began his career as a computer operator eventually becoming a programmer, system developer, operations manager and moving in to computer telecommunication management and engineering and maintenance of computer networks. He had also been employed be Scientific Data Systems in El Segundo, California and Xerox and Electronic Data Systems in Rochester, New York.

      Don is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had served the Southern States Mission of Georgia/ Florida from 1960-1962 and later in retirement don and Jodi served the Washington Kennewick Mission of Oregon/ Washington from 2007-2009. Don served as Bishop of the Palmyra Ward, Palmyra, New York from 2010 – 2016. He had serves as Temple Worker in the Palmyra, New York Temple and Director of the Stake Family Center in Palmyra. Don and Jodi devoted many hours of community service delivering Meal-on-Wheels in Palmyra for 10 years.

Don’s visitation will be held from 9-10am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2801 Temple Rd., Palmyra, NY. 14522. A funeral service will follow visitation at 10am at the church. Burial will be at Palmyra Cemetery, Vienna Street, Palmyra, NY. followed by a luncheon at the church.
