Cynthia Ann Leaty was born to Patrick and Dorothy Young in Carl, West Virginia. Affectionately known as Cindy, she was a beautiful light to anyone she met. Cindy had 2 sisters Phyllis Strub and Linda Guest and 2 brothers Patrick Young and Gary Young. The Young family lived most of their life on an upstate New York farm raising cattle. No stranger to hard work, Cindy had a work ethic and grit that can not be matched.

In 1963, Cindy met the love of her life at the town community center, Terry G. Leaty Sr.. Terry would be the first to tell you that Cindy's love saved him over and over again. Her strength, resilience and feisty attitude kept their love together and growing right up to the last day. Terry and Cindy built an amazing life together in Farmington, New York, where Cindy worked at the local gas station, pumping gas, the local transportation company, working as a dispatcher and where they opened their own auto repair shop. In a male dominated field, Cindy was a force to be reckoned with and held her own. She earned love and respect everywhere she went. Terry and Cindy had two children Terry Jr and Tammy. Cindy dedicated her life to be and do everything that her children could ever need. Family vacations, sporting events and every Sunday at Grandma's house, whatever it was, Cindy made sure to let her family know how much they were loved.

The Leaty's moved to Texas to support their daughter's gymnastics career and created an amazing life where they now have 8 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, with more on the way!

Cindy suffered a brain aneurysm in 2007. After spending 100 days in ICU, her strength was on full display and despite the odds being stacked against her, she fought back and survived. Cindy had to adjust to a new normal after she lost use of her left side due to the aneurysm. Her spirit has never wavered and she was as strong as ever, spreading Love, Joy and Happiness. From friends at church, to local neighbors, stories can be told about her smile, her absolute love of life and her sweet friendly wave to all that drove by.

Cindy went home to be with the Lord at 12:30 on February 27, 2025, where she will join many family members, including her parents and her son Terry Jr.

Cindy will be missed by many but her amazing spirit has left its mark on all of us.

Friends and family may call from 11am-noon on Thursday, March 6 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. Burial with committal prayers will follow in Palmyra Cemetery.
