PALMYRA: Watson, Carol W. passed along peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the age of 83. A graveside committal service will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 28 in Palmyra Cemetery (Please meet at the Vienna Street Gate). A memorial service will be held at 4pm on Saturday the 28th at the Western Presbyterian Church of Palmyra followed by a reception in fellowship hall. Memorials may be directed to Western Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 101 East Main St., Palmyra, NY 14522 or to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
Carol grew up in Milton, Massachusetts where she attended public school graduating in 1949. She then attended Radcliffe College earning a BA degree. In 1953 she married Richard W. Watson, also of Milton and thus began a marriage of more than 60 years. After Dick's tour of duty in the U.S. Army, the couple moved to Palmyra, NY. Carol then became involved in community activities including serving as Girl Scout troop leader and eventually on the board of directors for the Seven Lakes Council. Along the way Carol and Dick adopted two daughters; Gail E. and Linda. Carol was a piano teacher and church organist for more than 30 years as well as working as an aide for the Palmyra-Macedon School District.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her husband Richard; daughters Linda (James) Zurich and Gail (Leslie Preisner) Watson; grandsons Nicholas and Cooper Zurich and extended family members.
