SHORTSVILLE: Scott David Ranney died unexpectedly at home on December 17, 2017 in Shortsville, NY at the age of 48. Scott is survived by his fiancé, Deborah Lockemeyer, mother, Linda (Larry) Scott of Port Gibson, NY, son and daughter, Jordan and Riley of Greece, NY, sister Melissa (Carl) Haitz, niece and nephew, Logynne, and Garrett, of Minot, North Dakota, Uncle Rick of Newark, NY, and Andy (Terry) Ranney of Peyton, CO, as well as 6 step siblings, and several maternal Aunts and Uncles. Scott is preceded in death by his father Larry (Bob) Ranney, Grandparents Rose and Robert Ranney, and Myrtle and Alan DeCann.

Scott was born on June 11, 1969 in Newark, NY. He graduated from high school in 1991 from Midlakes Central School, and was employed as a carpenter's apprentice while working construction in the Rochester area. In 2001, Scott received a certificate in Farrier Science from the Colorado School of Trades and was self-employed as a farrier until 2004,

Scott took great pride and joy in the accomplishments of his beloved children, Riley and Jordan. Scott was also a muscle and race car enthusiast, and participated on a racing team throughout much of his adult life. Above all, Scott will be remembered as a generous, compassionate and brave man by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path and will be dearly missed.

A memorial celebration of Scott's life will be from 2-4 pm on December 29, 2017 at Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, 123 West Main St., Palmyra, NY 14522 with a gathering to follow at 889 Stafford Rd., Shortsville, NY and all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ontario County Humane Society, 2976 Co Rd 48, Canandaigua, NY 14424.
