PALMYRA: Eagley, Harold W: Harold passed away on March 24th 2017 at the age of 94. Harold was born to Anson J. and Lillian Eagley of Manchester, NY on May 29th, 1922. He was predeceased by his parents as well as his brothers Robert (Elaine) & Donald (Alice) and his sister Audrey (Allen) McCumber. Harold touched many people as he always seemed to know someone everywhere he went and greeted everyone with a friendly smile. He and his former spouse, Eudora had reacquainted in recent years and were the iconic elder couple as they “slowly” drove about on their daily jaunts. Harold was a member of our “Greatest Generation” and served his country in WWII as a member of the 14th Armored Division, “D” Company, 25th Tank Battalion serving as a Sherman tank gunner and driver. He served in France, the Rhineland and Central Europe surviving the Battle of the Bulge along the way. Like other GI’s, Harold returned home to continue on like it was just another day, raising a family along the way. The funeral home proudly flies the United States Army flag in honor of Harold’s service to our country. Harold will be lovingly remembered by many family members and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Donna (David) Smith of Newark. Harold will be missed by Eudora and his daughters Connie Lawson and Jane (Terry) Bieck, all of Palmyra. Also feeling the loss are his grandchildren; Joby Lawson of Webster, Nicole Ellis (Chris) of Troutman, NC, Dan Bieck of Palmyra, as well as Harold’s great granddaughter Brynlee Ellis. Family and friends are invited to call from 4-6pm on Wednesday, March 29 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 West Main Street, Palmyra. Please join the family for a graveside service at 10am on Thursday, March 30 in Palmyra Cemetery where Harold will be laid to rest with military honors.
