PALMYRA: Esther C. Rush; Born on 5/24/1922 in Ontario County, Town of Farmington. Died on 2/26/2017. Memorial service to be held at 11am on Saturday, April 15 in Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes, 1777 Rochester Rd. Farmington, NY 14425. A reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Veterans Outreach Center, 459 South Ave., Rochester, NY 14620.

      Pre-deceased by husband Russell Rush (April 2001), brother Richard Ruebens (May 2016), son Kenneth Rush (March 2006), son-in-law Gary Caruana (February 2010).

Survived by sister Bertha Main of Phelps, NY, brother Oscar Ruebens of Canandaigua, NY, daughter Roberta Caruana of Webster, NY, son Michael (Connie) Rush of Shelby Montana, daughter-in-law (Kenneth) Elaine Rush of Rushville, NY, brother-in-law Francis Rush of Palmyra, NY, and niece Joan Parker of Palmyra, NY. Also survived by six grandchildren: Christine Jackson, Kandi Jackson, Valerie (Drew) Peltier, Bernard (Michelle) Rush, David (Janet) Rush, Katrina (Rush) Hurlburt. Esther was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

     Esther’s father Alfonso L. Ruebens came from Belgium. He wed her mother Louise Marie Van De Veire in the Catholic Church in Palmyra in 1911. Esther was the youngest of eight children: Elizabeth (who died at an early age), Robert, Raymond, Bertha, Clara, Richard, and Oscar.

   Esther was brought up on a farm on Herendeen Road in Farmington, NY. She wed Russell on May 11, 1940 (nearly 61 years). They had four children: Roberta, Kenneth, Michael, and adopted daughter Tina (John) Bettilyon.

    Russell and Esther were famous for saying, “Love is togetherness”.
